The Challenge
The Department of Communities is a multi-function human services agency with the goal of creating pathways that enable individual, family and community wellbeing. The agency provides a diverse range of services requiring close collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders. Managing the identity lifecycle for external users is a key challenge for the agency.
The Solution
KDR worked with Communities to produce a Current State Assessment for external user identity management across all external stakeholders. This included a review of existing and planned online systems, along with an evaluation of the overall State Government strategy for external user identity management. KDR assessed input from the Office of Digital Government User ID Working Group, and Commonwealth Government future directions frameworks. KDR’s approach included a Discovery Phase, an Evaluation and Analysis Phase, along with a final Recommendations Phase.
The Outcome
The Future State Analysis and Recommendations Report provided Communities with a strategy for ongoing external user identity management. Communities were able to identify a number of current challenges and issues, and assess how best to manage external identities into the future.
