The Challenge
The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) provides a broad range of governance and regulatory services, including oversight and supervision of Western Australia’s exploration and mining industries. DMIRS’ Electronic Minerals Titles (eMiTS) system is a large, bespoke web application for managing mineral exploration and mining tenements throughout Western Australia. DMIRS needed an agile solution to respond more rapidly to the many legislative and regulatory changes in the mining industry.
The Solution
DMIRS’ eMiTS system is a complex J2EE / WebSphere application with numerous third-party links and integrations. KDR worked with DMIRS to migrate and modernise existing eMiTS functionality to a containerised Docker platform. This included the definition and configuration of containers, code upgrade and migration, along with testing and documentation. KDR also assisted DMIRS develop automated build and deployment procedures for ongoing system changes and upgrades.
The Outcome
KDR’s team helped DMIRS modernise and migrate to an application architecture supporting faster and more agile deployment. KDR’s DevOps input will assist DMIRS deliver industry solutions more effectively and efficiently.
