Program and Project Governance Services for OneNet Program and ICT Integration

The Challenge

The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage (DPLH) is responsible for planning and managing land and heritage for all Western Australians.  To improve operational efficiency, DPLH needed assistance managing a complex program of ICT integration activities.

The Solution

KDR provided Program and Project Governance services for DPLH’s OneNet Program.  OneNet was designed to integrate four disparate ICT ecosystems, each with different processes and suppliers at different levels of maturity.  KDR was responsible for engaging with business and IT stakeholders, mobilising a portfolio of projects and effectively managing program resources.  KDR also provided support, coaching and advice to project managers working on individual projects within the overall OneNet program of work.  Our approach helped drive and support a culture of co-operation and collaboration across all vendors involved in the program.

The Outcome

KDR brought OneNet’s projects into active governance.  This included improved project and financial management, increased transparency and oversight, and enhanced executive engagement and buy-in.  As a result, KDR was able to rescue a major project after the prime contractor went into administration, ensure continuity of project delivery through senior management changes, and drive the program to a successful conclusion.
